M0CKE HF Mobile again
I've finally done it, M0CKE/m again !!
The winter blues has seen me change out my Icom IC2820 DSTAR for a Kenwood TM-D700 VHF/UHF and Kenwood TS-480SAT in the mobile.
The TM-D700 is remote mounted in the trunk and coupled with a GPS unit to give APRS output every 2 minutes whilst mobile, along with comms on 70cms using a dual band mobile whip mounted on the rear hatch
The TS-480SAT is remote mounted under the passenger seat using a Siro 4000 whip mounted on the rear hatch for 10m and a High Sierra SideKick Screwdriver with cap hat and 2.5m whip for 80m - 12m operation mounted on the roof rail above the driver side door.
The sidekicks mounting plate has a thick braid running down to the rear door hinge mounting bolts and the TS480 has a thick braid strap to the seat mounting bolt.
Running HF in the mobile again is a blast, the noise levels out in the countryside are zero compared with my sub-urban home QTH which runs at about s3-5 on a good day.
Anyway look out for my puny HF mobile singals on the bands
